So you're a young, carefree girl who just inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother you didn't know you had. Sounds like the setup for a sitcom, only, it turns out, this grandmother just happens to be the mother of Leatherface, you know, the chainsaw-wielding killer who happens to live down in the basement.

Lionsgate continues the legendary Texas Chainsaw Massacre story by picking up where Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas where people have gone missing without a trace for decades. Townspeople suspect the Sawyer family and their suspicions are confirmed one hot summer afternoon when a young woman escapes following the brutal murders of four of her friends. Enraged, a mob of townspeople surround the house and burn it to the ground, killing every member of the Sawyer family… or so they thought.

Decades later, the young girl, Heather, ventures down to the house with her friends to uncover her roots. She finds that she is the sole heir of a lavish Victorian mansion that hides a dark secret down in its dank cellar.

Directed by John Luessenhop, Texas Chainsaw 3D buzzes into theaters January 4.
