Looks like Disney isn’t quite done with Toy Story veterans Tom Hanks (Woody) and Tim Allen (Buzz) since they’re looking to bring both guys onboard their latest amusement-park-ride-turned-movie, Jungle Cruise.

Tom Hanks and Tim AllenUnlike the Toy Story movies from Pixar, Disney’s Jungle Cruise would follow in the footsteps of other rides-turned-movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and be live action, not animated. There’s no director yet, but Roger S.H. Schulman (Shrek, Jungle Book 2) is writing the script. No word on what the story will be about, though we imagine it’ll have something to do with a jungle cruise that goes wrong.
Question is, can you sell Hanks and Allen to kids if they’re not coming in the form of their Woody and Buzz characters, but as a couple of older, live-action dads? Both know their way around comedy (though, on the big screen, Hanks has definitely been the more successful in terms of quality), and so it’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.
What do you think – Is Jungle Cruise the next Pirates of the Caribbean?
