Today in Movie Culture: ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Easter Eggs, the Science of the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Timeline and More

Here are a bunch of little bites to satisfy your hunger for movie culture:

Easter Eggs of the Day:

This week, tickets became available for Spider-Man: Far From Home two months in advance of its release - and we got a new trailer for the sequel, too. This spot reveals a lot about how the movie relates to the events of Avengers: Endgame, but how many details did you miss? Here’s ScreenCrush with a breakdown of every Easter egg and plot clue in the latest ad for the Spider-Man: Homecoming follow-up:

Director Commentary of the Day:

Speaking of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, GQ got Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who also helmed Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, to discuss the biggest moments of the franchise in this 26-minute video:

Congratulations of the Day:

Last weekend, the Russo brothers’ Avengers: Endgame knocked James Cameron’s Titanic out of the way to become the second-highest-grossing movie of all time, worldwide. Cameron, who still currently tops that list with Avatar, offered a congratulatory recognition of Marvel’s achievement on Instagram, complete with a fun graphic of the Avengers logo sinking the famously doomed ship:

Movie Science of the Day:

Are you still confused about the time-travel stuff in Avengers: Endgame? While most of what happens in the movie is sci-fi fantasy and traveling through time isn’t real, as far as we know, Kyle Hill does his best to scientifically explain the plot of Endgame in the latest installment of Because Science:

Remade Movie Scene of the Day:

Earlier this week, we shared a video from Huxley Berg Studios in which part of the climactic battle from Avengers: Endgame was redone in Lego form. Now, Brick FORCE Studios is joining the fun with their own remake of another part of the movie’s climax, also with Lego bricks and minifigs. Only watch this if you’ve seen Endgame or don’t mind being spoiled:

Fan Art of the Day:

This week, the 2019 Met Gala was held in New York City, and everyone was talking about all the crazy fashions inspired by the “camp” theme. Artist BossLogic was also inspired, once again, to imagine the attendees as superheroes and also to imagine super villains as attendees. Here’s what Thanos from Avengers: Endgame might have looked like if he went to the star-studded ball:

Alternate Ending of the Day:

Do you wish there were more DC superhero cameos in Shazam!? Do you wish Shazam could join the rest of the Justice League for more extended-universe crossovers? Well, here’s the latest How It Should Have Ended video, which reimagines the movie’s final scene with amusing animation:

Promotional Prank of the Day:

Warner Bros. played a prank on people seeking out a leaked copy of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu this week, and this trickery came in the form of a wonderful gift to actual Pokémon fans. Check out more than 100 minutes of the adorable little title character aerobically dancing to ‘80s style music:

Cosplay of the Day:

Want to cosplay to your screening of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu but you’re on a tight budget? If you can find some toilet paper rolls and cotton balls around the house, then you can make yourself some Detective Pikachu ears and the detective hat, at least. Watch this tutorial from Cardboard Cosplay for the cheap and easy DIY craftwork:

Classic Movie Trailer of the Day:

With Pokémon: Detective Pikachu arriving in theaters this weekend, let’s look back at the first time this franchise made its way to the big screen, 20 years ago. Courtesy of Movieclips, watch the original trailer for the animated feature Pokémon: The First Movie, which opened in U.S. theaters on November 10, 1999:
