And so while we await our opportunity to go back and visit “This Ship of Dreams” this Wednesday, we’re using our Titanic Time Warp feature to check in with the cast and crew of James Cameron’s Oscar-winning masterpiece to see what they had to say about the process of making Titanic, long before it became the massive blockbuster we now know it to be.

Today, it’s her co-star’s turn. Before he became Jack Dawson, DiCaprio was best known for playing Romeo in Baz Luhrmann’s reimagining of William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy. It’s hard to believe that DiCaprio wasn’t yet the Hollywood heavy hitter who’d go on to collaborate with titans such as Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan and Clint Eastwood.
But it all started with Cameron, who DiCaprio speaks fondly of in this vintage 1997 clip promoting Titanic. It’s an exclusive, only here on Fandango:
I love that quote from DiCaprio about how surreal the actual filming of Titanic was to him as a young actor. That’s how we felt watching the movie, and that’s why we can’t wait to see it all over again.
