I'm not sure if this revolving door full of different actors is an indication that the film will turn out just as jumbled and confusing, but I will say that it can't be the greatest sign of things to come. Then again, I was never really fond of a Three Stooges movie from Peter and Bobby Farrelly (There's Something About Mary) in the first place, mainly because I feel the Farrelly brothers have lost their way as filmmakers over the past few years (though that's another post entirely).

But that wasn't stopping folks like Sean Penn (Larry), Jim Carrey (Curly) and Benicio Del Toro (Moe) from signing up to play the iconic Stooges in a new film. However, soon after the casting was announced, Sean Penn dropped out, and, now, Boston.com reports that Jim Carrey has exited the film as well. This comes after reports of him gaining massive amounts of weight for the role of Curly surfaced months ago.

As Carrey's mysterious exit baffles lots (including myself), Boston.com also notes that Paul Giamatti has replaced Sean Penn as Larry. Giamatti, I feel, is perfect for this type of film – the man has definitely proven he's more than capable of losing himself in bizarre roles (see: American Splendor, Shoot 'Em Up, John Adams), and will bring a lot of fun to the table. With Del Toro apparently still attached to play Moe, this still leaves an empty spot for poor old Curly, who would need to be played by an overweight actor or someone (like Carrey) committed to gaining the pounds.

With Jim Carrey out, who would you like to see play Curly?
