Need a quick recap of the past week in movie news? Here are the highlights:

Gal Gadot is the Evil Queen: Taking a break from playing a superhero in the DC movies, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is taking on a classic villain role. Deadline reports that the actress (who can be seen in theaters this weekend in Red Notice) is in negotiations to play the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action remake of their animated masterpiece Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Marc Webb, director of The Amazing Spider-Man and (500) Days of Summer, will be at the helm of the musical, which will feature Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) in the lead role as the original Disney Princess. This Snow White will also feature new songs by the Oscar-winning La La Land duo of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Chris Pratt hates Mondays: Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt is taking on his most iconic character yet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will voice everyone’s favorite lasagna-loving, Mondays-despising feline in a new Garfield animated feature based on the famous comic strip.

The movie will mark a reunion for The Emperor’s New Groove writer-director Mark Lindal and writer David Reynolds. The former’s last directorial effort was 2005’s Chicken Little. The latter went on to earn an Oscar nomination for co-writing Pixar’s Finding Nemo. Pratt, who previously voiced lead characters in The Lego Movie and Onward, was also recently cast as the voice of Mario in a new Super Mario Bros. animated feature.

Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon join Oppenheimer: Speaking of stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. will co-star in the next movie from Tenet and The Dark Knight writer-director Christopher Nolan. Deadline reports that he and The Last Duel star Matt Damon have both been cast in Oppenheimer, a biopic about J. Robert Oppenheimer.

Cillian Murphy is playing the title character, who led the development of the atomic bomb, while Emily Blunt is set to play his wife and colleague, Kitty. Damon will portray Lt. General Leslie Groves, who directed the Manhattan Project, which saw the development of the atomic bomb. Downey is expected to play Lewis Strauss, who was also part of the development of the bomb but also later became a villain in Oppenheimer’s story when he led a hearing to revoke the scientist’s security clearance.

Taika Waititi to take a ride on Tower of Terror: Marvel movie director and actor Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) is also in the news this week reuniting with Marvel actress Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), whom he previously worked with on Jojo Rabbit. According to Disney blog The DisInsider, Waititi will direct Tower of Terror for the studio, based on the theme park ride with the same name.

Johansson is producing the movie, which was scripted by Oscar-winning Toy Story 4 and Inside Out writer Josh Cooley and will likely have a plot involving a haunted hotel. It’s still unknown if she will also appear in the movie. Or if Waititi will take on a role either.

Callum Turner to star in The Boys in the Boat: Fantastic Beasts and The Only Living Boy in New York actor Callum Turner is climbing aboard George Clooney’s next project. Deadline reports that the actor has the starring role in The Boys in the Boat, an underdog sports drama to be directed by Clooney and longtime collaborator Grant Heslov (Good Night, and Good Luck).

The movie is based on Daniel James Brown’s novel of the same name, which chronicles the true story of the University of Washington men’s rowing team competing in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany.

Michael Showalter to direct Wayland: Another reunion this week comes in the form of The Eyes of Tammy Faye director Michael Showalter and the movie’s producer and lead actress Jessica Chastain. According to Deadline, Showalter will next helm Wayland, an ensemble thriller again produced by Chastain.

The movie is described as being similar to Knives Out, but no other plot information is available. Also, Chastain has not taken any on-screen part in the project beyond her producer role. For now, you can check out Showalter and Chastain’s work on the Tammy Faye biopic newly available on Vudu.

Deadline reports that a third installment of the series has been officially announced with original actors Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery returning in their lead roles as fraternal-twin vigilantes Murphy and Connor MacManus.

Writer-director Troy Duffy is also back at the helm for Boondock Saints III. His first Boondock Saints was released back in 1999 with the first sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day arriving a decade later, in 2009.
