Downhill raises expectations: Fox Searchlight introduced the first trailer for Downhill, the American remake of the 2014 Scandinavian hit Force Majeure, and it looks even funnier thanks to stars Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The Woman in the Window looks thrilling: Atonement director Joe Wright helmed The Woman in the Window, a Hitchcockian thriller which shared its first trailer this week starring Amy Adams as an agoraphobe who witnesses a murder. CLASSIC MOVIE TRAILERS OF THE WEEK

Stars Wars: The Skywalker Saga: In honor of the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which completes the nine-movie arc known as the Skywalker Saga, let’s take a trip down memory lane with the trailers for the previous eight episodes.    

Star Wars: Also known as A New Hope, the movie that started it all is Episode IV of the series and was simply titled Star Wars in its initial release when it opened on May 25, 1977. Here’s its very first teaser trailer:

 

The Empire Strikes Back: The second installment but Episode V in the chronology, The Empire Strikes Back brought some soap-opera-level surprises when it was released on May 21, 1980.

 

Return of the Jedi: The original Star Wars trilogy concluded with Episode VI, Return of the Jedi, which opened in theaters exactly six years after the first movie, on May 25, 1983.

 

The Phantom Menace: The Skywalker Saga picked back up for a series of prequels starting with Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, which debuted in theaters on May 19, 1999.

 

Attack of the Clones: The series jumped ahead a number of years in the story with its next installment, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, which opened on May 16, 2002.

 

Revenge of the Sith: The prequel trilogy concluded with the sixth installment of the Skywalker Saga. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith arrived on the big screen on May 19, 2005.

 

The Force Awakens: After Disney bought Lucasfilm, the Skywalker Saga resumed with a sequel trilogy. Episode VIII, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was released on December 18, 2015. Here’s the movie’s first teaser trailer:

The women of Bombshell: As Bombshell expands into wide release this weekend, let’s recognize the talents of actresses Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie, all of whom have Oscar buzz surrounding their performances in the new drama. Here are some clips of their past Oscar-worthy work:

Monster: Theron received her first Oscar nomination and won the Academy Award for her transformative portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in 2002’s Monster. This is a relevant sequence of scenes since there clearly is nothing that this actress can’t do:

 

North Country: Theron earned her second Oscar nomination for Best Actress for the 2005 drama North Country, in which she plays a victim of sexual harassment, not unlike her role as Megyn Kelly in Bombshell. Watch her suffering the experience in this clip:

 

Moulin Rouge!: Kidman was first recognized by the Academy for her leading role in the 2001 Baz Luhrman musical Moulin Rouge! Here’s a memorable scene in which she performs a mashup of Marilyn Monroe and Madonna favorites:

 

Rabbit Hole: Following her Oscar win for The Hours, Kidman was again nominated in the Best Actress category for the 2010 drama Rabbit Hole. This clip showcases her performance as a grieving mother as she argues with her husband:

 

Lion: Kidman’s fourth Oscar nomination came in the supporting actress category for another maternal role, this time in 2016’s Lion. In this scene, her character meets the two orphaned children she and her husband are adopting:

 

I, Tonya: Robbie’s first and so far only Oscar nomination was in the lead actress category for her portrayal of ice skater Tonya Harding in the 2017 biopic I, Tonya. Here she gives an amazing performance just putting on makeup in front of a mirror:
