The Week in Movie News: Here's What You Need to Know

Need a quick recap on the past week in movie news? Here are the highlights:



DC movies will mostly be stand-alone efforts: Following the massive success of Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have decided not to focus on creating a Marvel-like interconnective cinematic universe with their movies. Instead they will allow more stand-alone features like the upcoming Joker spin-off. Kate Winslet is joining the Avatar sequels: The Avatar sequels are underway, and now they've got another James Cameron veteran joining the cast: Titanic star Kate Winslet. Of course, we know nothing about the character she's playing yet. Read more here.



Fast and Furious and Men in Black spin-offs are coming: Fast and Furious 9 has been delayed until 2020, but don't worry because the spin-off focused on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's characters is arriving a year earlier in 2019.
