The 2008 Golden Globes 'Show'

The 2008 Golden Globes 'Show'

You know it's a surreal year for movie fans when NFL commentators Cris Collinsworth, Jerome Bettis and Tiki Barber are offered up as part of the pre-show entertainment for the Golden Globes.

Um,, the awards show did go on...sort of.

On television, Nancy O'Dell and Billy Bush, co-anchors of NBC's Access Hollywood, were the hosts, commentators, and the closest thing to live celebrities for the special "Golden Globe Announcements" program.

The good news...lots of deserving talent can now put "Golden Globe winner" on their resume...and also, watching film clips and no acceptance speeches frees you up to do other things with the extra two hours of the evening.

The bad news...beyond missing movie stars partying and imbibing at the Globes dinner, and seeing who'll rush from the bathroom last second to thank their moms, dogs, spouses and agents...there's a writers' strike still ongoing, which appears to have no apparent end in sight.

So when's the Oscars? Feb. 24, in theory. Here's praying that the WGA and the producers can resolve their differences in time to have it.

Beyond the obvious important reasons, it's just a little too weird having movie awards shows with sports guys, no movie stars and no actual "show."

Congrats, nonetheless, to all of the Golden Globe winners! Here are just a few of them...
