Daisy Ridley in Young Woman And The Sea

Daisy Ridley stars as real-life swimming pioneer Trudy Ederle in Young Woman and the Sea, which opens in theaters on May 31. (Get your tickets here!)

Ederle was a 1924 Olympic swimming medalist looking for a new challenge. In 1925, she started training to swim across the English Channel, a feat that no woman – and few men – had accomplished.

Ederle had a solid support system in her family, especially her sister (played here by Tilda Cobham-Hervey), and her coach, Bill Burgess (Stephen Graham). In our exclusive clip, Trudy asks Burgess for a promise as she prepares for her 1926 crossing.
