Keeping the Party Going with another Project X

Warner Bros. is keeping the party going. The studio is working on a sequel to Project X, which opened this past weekend to a strong $21 million box office.

Writers Michael Bacall, who wrote the story and co-wrote the screenplay is writing a treatment for the sequel. Todd Phillips and Joel Silver would co-produce.

As the story is still in the treatment stage, it's unclear whether the three young stars, Thomas Mann, Oliver Cooper and Jonathan Brown, will return for the sequel or if the story will focus on another group of teens.

Did you see Project X? Would you like to see another movie or is one enough?

Setting Off On Another Journey

New Line is setting off on another Journey. Following the success of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the writers and director of the sequel are returning for a third movie. The big question though is if the stars of Journey 2 (Josh Hutcherson and Dwayne Johnson) will be back.

Johnson has a pretty full slate of films on his plate, having just picked up starring roles in Brett Ratner's Hercules flick as well as roles in Snitch, Pain and Gain, Fast Six, Empire State and his occasional WWE appearances.

Hutcherson is on the edge of becoming a household name with The Hunger Games set to hit theaters in a couple of weeks, so the question is how much will it cost to bring him back for a third film.

Not that money appears to be a major issue here. Journey 2 has already made $271 million worldwide on a $79 million budget and a third movie with the same sort of family friendly adventurous storyline should bring in similar numbers.

Would you like to see another Journey movie or have you had enough? If Hutcherson or Johnson don't return, who should fill in for them?

Jump Street Sequel in the Works

21 Jump Street doesn't hit theaters until next Friday, but thanks to strong buzz (it's still sporting an untarnished 100% freshness rating on RottenTomatoes), screenwriter Michael Bacall, whom we referenced above with the Project X sequel, talked to MTV about a second 21 Jump Street movie.

"All I can really say is that I'm working on it. I met with Jonah and Channing and all the producers and executives and yeah, we're looking to get it going as quickly as possible. I'm about to start the draft."

As far as what the second 21 Jump Street movie would be about, Bacall hinted, "I think if you've watched the movie, by the end you'll have a pretty good idea where the sequel takes place."

21 Jump Street hits theaters March 16.
