They're somewhat miserable and disheveled and most likely drunk or stoned, but they're so lovable and memorable that their long-awaited sequels are finally on the way.

That can be used to describe both Trainspotting 2 and Bad Santa 2 -- two follow-ups over a decade in the making (and in the case of Trainspotting 2, over two decades).

Trailers for both sequels were released this week, reminding us that their predecessors may be older (and maybe wiser), but their look, feel and attitudes are still alive and well.

Check 'em out below:

Bad Santa 2

Release: November 23

Directed by Mark Waters

Trainspotting 2

Release: February 10, 2017

Directed by Danny Boyle

Not much is known about either movie, except for the fact that they pick up with the same characters years later. In the case of Trainspotting 2, the entire original cast and director Danny Boyle have returned.

Not so for Bad Santa 2, which boasts a different director and writers, but brings back Billy Bob Thornton and Tony Cox. We'll miss Bernie Mac this time around, though the film has added folks like Kathy Bates and Christina Hendricks to its roster.

Which sequel are you looking forward to more?
