After finding mild success with the all-CGI Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie back in 2007, it’s just been announced that those pesky Turtles will once again make a triumphant return to the big screen – except this time they’re going back to live action. Fans will remember that the last time these Ninja Turtles hit theaters in live-action mode was wayyy back in the early 1990s for three different films; the first of which (and my personal favorite) will screen at the Tribeca Film Festival’s Drive In this week in celebration of the Turtle’s 25th Anniversary – and, during that same time, the Empire State Building will light up green in their honor. How cool is that? Something tells me Michaelangelo would respond to that news with something like, "Cowabunga dude!"

The new film, which will hit theaters in 2011, will be based on the original comic book series created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman. Unlike the subsequent cartoons and films, those comics were a touch darker, especially when it came to the lead villain, Shredder – so it’ll be interesting to see where they go with it and whether the Turtles look believable enough in live-action form.

Think they can pull it off?

Cameron Diaz Will Sue Your Ass!

Apparently Cameron Diaz is still a much sought-after actress, as Variety tells us she’s just signed on to another film where she’ll get to dress up some attitude as a "hard-charging female ambulance chaser”"in the new legal comedy Bobbie Sue. The role, which finds Diaz’s character becoming the new face of a law firm during a high profile sexual discrimination suit, seems like a perfect one for any actress to let her hair down and have a good time. Is Diaz that actress?

I personally hope so; a little part of me fell in love with her way back in the day during films like The Mask, There’s Something About Mary and Charlie’s Angels to a certain degree – and I always wished for her to take charge, show us she’s not just the "good looking blonde girlfriend/love interest" for once. Hopefully this film will give her the opportunity to stretch her legs, find her voice and get jiggy with it. Or maybe not. What do you think?

'Spider-Man 4' to Swing Into Theaters In 3D?

Could Spider-Man become the first major live-action superhero movie to hit theaters in – gasp! – 3D? According to a new interview with Sony chiefs Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton, that’s exactly what could happen, assuming it’s a right fit for the franchise. When asked whether Spidey 4 could hit theaters in 3D, Pascal replied simply with "could be". Lynton followed that up with, "People are paying a premium to see movies in 3-D and that's a very big deal. It's never been done before that someone says you have to pay more to see Spider-Man than a romantic comedy."

One thing they both agree on is that 3D is definitely the future for animation, and in the meantime, the world awaits James Cameron’s Avatar to see if that film becomes the 3D game-changer everyone expects it to be.

Me? I’m not crazy about this whole 3D explosion because I don’t want it to catch on like a virus and get to a point where every big movie HAS to be in 3D. Eventually it’ll become boring; a sorta been there, done that gimmick that’s run its course because Hollywood overdosed on it too quickly. But that’s just my opinion – what do you think? Should Spider-Man 4 – and all our upcoming superhero movies, for that matter – go the 3D route?
