Those looking forward to a fourth installment in the Mission Impossible franchise should be excited by this latest piece of news. According to a piece in TV Guide, J.J. Abrams -- who directed the last Mission Impossible movie – has been asked by Tom Cruise to join the fourth film as a producer.
Abrams says, "Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing." There's no screenwriter yet, or a director (I don't think Abrams will helm another one), so we still have a ways to go before it hits theaters. Nevertheless, I'm a fan of this franchise and look forward to whatever these boys churn out next. What about you?
Lance Armstrong Gets His Own Biopic
If anyone deserves a biopic, it's Lance Armstrong. The man defeated cancer and won the Tour de France cycling race seven consecutive times, which is a record I don't think anyone will ever break. His is a story about overcoming the odds and striving to be the best person you can – and now The Hollywood Reporter tells us that an unnamed writer who's "well-versed in sports comeback stories" will pen the script and the film could begin shooting as early as next year.
Awhile back Armstrong was real close with Jake Gyllenhaal – so much so that the actor was rumored to be preparing to play the cyclist in the biopic (which has been in the works for a long time now). That was about three years ago, though, so Gyllenhaal's name could be off the table by now. Who do you think would make a good Lance Armstrong on screen?
Zombies Invade New 'Deadworld' Movie
Are you sick of zombie films yet? Good, because we've got another one for you. The long-running comic series Deadworld is finally getting the big-screen treatment, thanks to David Hayter, Benedict Carver and Bill Mechanic. What separates Deadworld from the usual zombie fare is that this one actually tells the story from the zombie's point of view. Led by the evil and sadistic King Zombie, his job is to hunt down humans and destroy them in the most creative ways possible. Needless to say, this won't be a comedy.
Any fans of Deadworld out there? Is it really as nasty and gory as it sounds?
