Do you have the chops to write the next big Marvel movie? While they’re not exactly combing the streets with Spider-Man’s web for new talent, Marvel has indeed started a new program with the intent on signing five new writers each year and assigning them different comic adaptations to work on. Among the characters Marvel would eventually like to see up on the big screen are Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Nighthawk, Cable and Vision. Walt Disney also has a similar program, though I don’t think their writers will need a major crash course on masked vigilantes and little-known superheroes. Marvel has upwards of 5,000 characters in their collection, so look for this program to keep churning out new product for a long time to come.

Which under-the-radar Marvel character would you like to see up on the big screen?

Queen Latifah Jumps for New Basketball Flick

The project was first set up six years ago over at Disney, but when they let it go Fox Searchlight picked it up, and now Queen Latifah has hopped onboard (so says Variety). They’re calling this one a “modern-day Cinderella tale” about a physical therapist (Latifah) who falls for a basketball player who’s recovering from a major, career-threatening injury. Sounds sorta sad in a way, but they’re telling us it’s a romantic comedy – so look for all sorts of hijinks to eventually ensue. (Me? I just wanna see Ms. Latifah score a slam dunk this time around. She deserves it.)

Nicolas Cage Dons His Creepy Wizard Outfit for 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice'

Don’t be alarmed, Nicolas Cage is not filming a part for the next Harry Potter movie. Phew. Oh no, we’ve got one better: he’s actually starring as Balthazar Blake in a contemporary live-action version of the classic Sorcerer’s Apprentice tale. (Ya know, remember Disney’s Fantasia with Mickey and the wacky broomstick? Yeah, like that.). In the film, Cage plays a sorcerer who leaves his apprentice (Jay Baruchel) in charge of the shop, only things get a little out of control when a broomstick develops a mind of its own.

The first images of Cage as said sorcerer have appeared online via JustJared, and, well, he looks rather interesting, to say the least. Check out the photo and let us know what you think: Does Cage come off as a slick sorcerer or something else entirely?
