'Cloverfield 2' Still in the Works

'Cloverfield'

J.J. Abrams and his crazy clan took the world by storm when they produced their low-budget monster movie starring all up-and-comers. We weren't used to that type of blockbuster – one not built around special effects, but more on character and intense situations. Immediately after the film hit theaters, folks wondered whether there would be a sequel – and in speaking to MTV recently, Abrams did confirm that they are working on something involving Cloverfield. He said, "We're working on something right now with that, and again, you know, it's early stages." Not a whole lot to go on right there, but it sounds like they want to return to that world and are probably trying to figure out a way to do so and still make it seem as fresh, unique and original as Cloverfield turned out to be. (And, ahem, maybe next time there won't be so much shaky-cam – whaddya think?)

'Iron Man 2' is Going IMAX

I think it's pretty much a given at this point that any big fan film will arrive on IMAX screens the same day it lands in conventional theaters, yet IMAX continues to send out press releases and people like us continue to report on the news because, hey, you gotta know all your moviegoing options ahead of time, right? It helps with the planning and the purchasing of advance tickets on awesome sites like Fandango.

But, yeah, Iron Man 2 will hit IMAX screens on May 7th, which is the same day it arrives in regular theaters. However, unlike The Dark Knight, none of the film was shot in IMAX, so don't expect anything other than a straight up conversion.

Brad Pitt and Matt Damon Re-Team as…Penguins?

Matt Damon and Brad Pitt
Yup, you heard it right – Ocean's 11, 12 and 13 co-stars Brad Pitt and Matt Damon will be re-teaming on the big screen, but in a very animated way. According to Movieline, they'll be lending their voices to Happy Feet 2 (ya know, the animated flick with the penguins?). No word on who they're playing (a couple of penguins looking to knock over a casino, maybe?), but apparently they've been recording their voices over these past couple weeks.

In other Happy Feet 2 news, there's still no announcement on who will replace Brittany Murphy, who played a big role in the original film. As you know, Murphy unexpectedly passed away last month. Happy Feet 2 will arrive in theaters (in 3D) on November 18, 2011.
