Though it’s been rumored for a while now, Deadline Hollywood Daily is now reporting that Scarlett Johansson has officially replaced Emily Blunt as the Black Widow in Iron Man 2. Is this a good thing? We don’t know yet, obviously, but on paper it feels like there are other sexy, seductive psychos better suited for the role.

Here’s a description of the character from Wikipedia: "The first and best-known Black Widow is a Soviet agent trained as a spy, martial artist, and sniper, and outfitted with an arsenal of high-tech weaponry, including a pair of wrist-mounted energy weapons dubbed her "Widow's Bite"." Sure, she sounds like a pretty awesome addition to the much-hyped sequel, but can you seriously see Scarlett Johansson jumping, flipping and sniping with the best of them? After all, her last appearance in a comic adaptation didn’t really do much ... for anyone (ahem, The Spirit).

Scarlett Johansson

Here are five actresses who should’ve nabbed the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2 instead of Scarlett Johansson:

The Older Woman: Angelina Jolie -- She looks great in action films, knows how to pull off a dangerous stunt or three and comes with a whole ton of experience in the badass department (Wanted, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Tomb Raider).

Megan FoxThe Hot Young Sexpot: Megan Fox -- Sure, she’s been busy rolling around with Shia Labeouf and a bunch of Transformers, but Megan Fox brings that tasty mix of sex appeal and girl-who’ll-steal-your-boyfriend-and-stab-you-in-the-back – which, in my opinion, makes her a perfect fit for Black Widow.

The One Who’s Under The Radar: Eliza Dushku: Once Emily Blunt dropped out of the running due to another commitment, Eliza Dushku actually stepped up and campaigned within the fanboy community for the gig. She’s hot, spicy and has that dangerous look to her – but, unfortunately, she’s not the best actress. That said, a nice, tight black outfit and a few high kicks would more than make up for her lack of talent ... right?

The Fading Star: Jessica Biel: In her last film (which is due to go straight to DVD this year), Jessica Biel played a stripper. Not exactly superhero material, but I bet that gig helped her get into phenomenal shape – so much so that she’d probably have no problem shooting a gun ... or sliding down a pole. (Does Iron Man own a pole?)

The Random Pick: Gemma Arterton – She first impressed us as one of James Bond’s lovers in Quantum of Solace and she’s about to play princess opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia – so, heck, we’re sure she could handle whatever Iron Man throws at her. Better yet, with that girl-next-door smile, they’ll never see her coming.

So what do you think? Is Johansson the right fit for Black Widow? Would you rather go with one of the gals listed above, or someone else? Sound off below ...
