Further proof that the Sin City sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, is on the fast track to being filmed can be found in the return of a few cast members. Rosario Dawson (prostitute dominatrix Gail) and Mickey Rourke (tough guy Marv) are set to return. Since A Dame to Kill For is actually a prequel, it allows room for Marv's return.

Rodriguez spoke with MTV about bringing the two back.

"Rourke is all excited to come back, be he's probably the first one. I saw Rosario too. I ran into her for something else, and she's pumped. They've always been excited about doing another one, so that will be fun."

The protagonist in A Dame to Kill For is Dwight McCarthy, who was played by Clive Owen in Sin City, however, the first movie combined books 1, 3 and 4 in Frank Miller's graphic novel series (The Hard Goodbye, The Big Fat Kill and That Yellow Bastard, respectively). Dame is the second book in the series and Dwight's face is different, thanks to a near-fatal incident. It is concievable that Owen could return and be slathered in make-up, although Rodriguez may elect to cast different actor in the role.

Meanwhile, DenofGeek reports that Michael Madsen, who played Bruce Willis' corrupt police partner Bob is also confirmed to return.

"I'm doing the sequel to Sin City. That would be Sin City 2. I'm going to Ft. Worth, Texas, and there is supposed to be some sort of symposium or some Sin City panel where we're going to talk about the film."

Other prominent characters in Dame include Manute (played by Michael Clarke Duncan in Sin City), Nancy (Jessica Alba), Miho (Devon Aoki)

Here's the synopsis for A Dame to Kill For:

Stuck with nothing but a seedy gumshoe job and some demons, Dwight’s thinking of all the ways he’s screwed up and what he’d give for one clear chance to wipe the slate clean, to dig his way out of the numb gray hell that is his life. And he’d give anything. Just to feel the fire. One more time. But he can’t let himself lose control again, can’t ever let the monster out. And then Ava calls.

As you can tell from that synopsis, the Ava character is one of the leads (and is indeed the Dame worth killing for) and will result in the addition of a new actress to the Sin City franchise. Who do you think could play that role?
