Dirty Dancing Redux – Get ready to have the time of your life … again! According to a Tweet from Production Weekly, a Dirty Dancing remake is in the works with a new script from Julia Dahl (Uptown Girls). No word on whether the remake will keep all the old music, as well as the 1963 setting, or if it will be an update with newer tunes. A reboot/sequel called Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights was attempted in 2004, though the film failed to find an audience. Who would you want in the remake? All I know is that if it's Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, then I will have completely lost faith in Hollywood.
A Third Hobbit Movie – Making its way through the rumor mill today is news that Peter Jackson wants to direct a third film following the two Hobbit movies helmed by Guillermo del Toro. However, Jackson told MTV earlier this month that no such third film would exist because Warner Bros. and New Line only have the rights for two movies. What's the real truth? First Images from Ryan Reynolds' 'Buried' – Those looking for the most claustrophobic movie of 2010 should search no further than the experimental indie Buried, which stars Ryan Reynolds as a civilian contractor in Iraq who wakes up to realize he's buried in a coffin with only a cell phone (that's dying, mind you) to try to help him escape. Twitch has the first two images from the film (check out one below), which is said to only include Reynolds and no one else. A daring project if I may say so myself, but definitely a fascinating one. Buried is currently in production.
Bruce, Arnold and Sly Team Up for First Time – If you didn't think the upcoming 80's throwback action flick The Expendables was awesome enough, then check out this news: Bruce Willis has confirmed to MTV that he will join Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone on screen in the same scene for what he calls "a special cameo." Three 80's icons appearing with each other on screen for the first time ever! Very cool! The Expendables, due in theaters in April 2010, tells of a group of mercenaries who head to South America to overthrow a dictator.
Jon Hamm Gets Sucker Punched – Now that another season of Mad Men has popped up to remind you that everyone watches this show except, well, me, it's fitting that star Jon Hamm would land a new gig – one that places him in a cast full of hot young gals. He's joined Zack Snyder's ultra-stylized, R-rated Sucker Punch, featuring the likes of Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, and Carla Gugino. Hamm will play a character named High Roller in the film about a bunch of girls who plan to escape a mental institution before being lobotomized. [THR]
The White Chicks Sequel No One Wanted – The Wayans brothers look like they're eager to franchise out another one of their sub-par comedic properties – the latest being a sequel to White Chicks, which starred Marlon and Shawn Wayans as FBI agents who pose as white women. Keenan Ivory Wayans will direct part two after the original film surprisingly scored roughly $100 million worldwide. So who's down for a White Chicks sequel?
