
Contestants will watch 56 movies straight (titles TBD), with ten-minute breaks in between, and medical professionals will apparently ensure that those competing are actually “watching” as opposed to “staring” at the screen."
Now, at the wee age of 19, a day straight (which turned out to be about 14 movies) of cinema was no problem, no sweat. But nowadays, five days and 56 movies? My hat's off to the eight hyper movie buffs that will be competing. Especially if they're subjected to long-winded foreign flicks like Fellini's 8 1/2 or the director's cut of Terrence Malick's The New World. Don't get me wrong. I love those films. But for this sort of competition, your best chances of survival are 90 minute laugh-a-thons that you know by heart, like Beverly Hills Cop and Fletch. Anything with lots of backlight and preferrably set in the day helps. What do you all think? What would be your worst nightmare movies to win this baby?
