Sure, he’s a teen heartthrob who knows how to sing, how to dance and how to woo Vanessa Hudgens, but does that also make him the next great action hero? When Zac Efron turned down a chance to star in a remake of Footloose, he did so in order to take on more challenging work and step away from his song-and-dance-man image. So does that mean he’d like to become…the next Sylvester Stallone?

Probably not, but from the looks of it the guy is interested in getting his shoes dirty. Apart from potentially starring in a live-action adaptation of Jonny Quest, Efron is taking meetings and showing interest in another adaptation; this one from a Japanese manga series called Full Metal Panic. The Hollywood Reporter tells us the series "blends action, comedy and high school romance," and follows a teenage anti-terrorist commando whose mission it is to protect a teen girl with mystical powers.

Could you see Efron playing a teenage anti-terrorist commando? Stop laughing, I’m serious! Do you think he has the chops to flex some muscle and dodge an explosion or two? Or is he too much of a pretty boy who belongs in cheesy romantic comedies and sexy GQ cologne ads instead of run-and-gun action flicks?
