We already told you about how Will Smith is teaming up with his daughter Willow on a contemporary remake of Annie, and now today that news has officially been confirmed by Sony. Willow Smith will star in the lead role as an orphaned girl whose life changes when she’s adopted by an extremely wealthy man. As rumored, Jay-Z will be involved in a musical capacity, which means we should expect to see some of those familiar Annie songs re-introduced with some sort of hip-hop flavor.
Remember, Will Smith has already found success launching his kids’ careers through 80s remakes. Last year his son Jaden Smith starred in The Karate Kid, which was a remake of the iconic film starring Ralph Macchio, and now he looks to do the same with Willow. So considering this is becoming a bit of a trend for the Smith family, we’d like to know from you which classic kids role you wouldn’t want to see Jaden or Willow reimagine and update for a contemporary audience.
