After churning out a memorable (and quite hilarious) cameo in last summer’s Tropic Thunder – followed by the lead role in Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie (good film, though I’m still bothered by all the awkward accents) – Tom Cruise is now carefully plotting out his next move, which includes circling the starring role in up to four different films. Variety recently provided an update on all four, and I’ve listed them below. Feel free to read up and then vote on which flick you’d most like to see Cruise star in next.
1. Motorcade (director: Len Wiseman): Film follows a group of terrorists who plan to attack the president’s motorcade while it travels through Los Angeles.
2. The Tourist (director: Bharat Nalluri): Co-starring Charlize Theron, this thriller has Cruise playing an American tourist who gets all caught up in a game of espionage when an Interpol agent (Theron) uses him to help catch a bad guy.
3. Wichita (director: James Mangold): Co-starring Cameron Diaz, this romantic comedy finds Cruise playing a mysterious stranger who meets a down-on-her-love-luck woman (Diaz) on a blind date and…more stuff happens, we hope.
4. The Matarese Circle (director: David Cronenberg): In this tasty Robert Ludlum adaptation, Cruise could potentially star opposite Denzel Washington in a story that follows two rival agents from the U.S. and Russia who work together to locate Matarese criminals infiltrating the American government. With Cronenberg behind the wheel, this is easily my choice for Cruise’s next picture.
So sound off, folks: You know what the film’s are about – now tell us which you’d like to see Tom Cruise star in next.
