C’mon, you knew this was inevitable. After Paranormal Activity 2 wiped the floor with Saw 3D this Halloween ($156 million worldwide to $90 million), Paramount is obviously eager to continue collecting those dollars for as long as they can. And who can blame them, really, so long as they continue to find new, interesting ways to freak people out with their "found footage" ghost stories.
Keeping with the Halloween theme – and seeing a nice, clean opening now that the Saw franchise is complete – Paramount has announced that Paranormal Activity 3 will arrive in theaters on October 21st, 2011, exactly one year after the previous installment. Naturally they’re keeping the plot under wraps for now, but one assumes it will revolve around a spirit haunting people via video cameras strategically placed around a home.
Question is: How many sequels will they be able to churn out before this concept will begin to feel old? What do you think – are you excited for more Paranormal Activity movies, or should they stop at two?
