It's time to cancel the apocalypse! Pacific Rim hits theaters today with Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikichi leading humanity's last charge against ugly giant monsters emerging from the depths of the sea. Guillermo del Toro's sci-fi action movie got off to a hot start during early Thursday screenings banking $3.6 million. Be sure to stick around for a mid-credits scene and a Godzilla reference postcredits.

Guillermo del Toro spoke with us about how he went about creating the robot suits for his movie while Ron Perlman "marveled" del Toro's creations. The interview also includes Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Hunnam and scene-stealer Charlie Day.

When looking at the trailers for Pacific Rim, one can't help but see the influence the cult favorite Evangelion anime has had on the movie. One artist went as far as to inject an Evangelion robot into the Pacific Rim world.
You're most likely going to be humming the heroic "Main Theme" from Pacific Rim which plays throughout the massive battle sequences. Here it is for you to play over and over.
