Elisabeth Moss stars as a strong woman who fights for her life against her abuser in the new thriller The Invisible Man. After Cecilia Kass (Moss) escapes from a terrifying relationship, her former partner continues to stalk and menace her, even though no one can see him, forcing Cecilia to take decisive action.
Now playing in theaters nationwide, The Invisible Man earned positive reviews and drew big crowds over the weekend. The combination of star and subject matter under the direction of Leigh Whannell (Upgrade) makes us eager to see more thrillers that are driven by strong women. Here are three that are coming soon to theaters everywhere.
The outrageous premise has grabbed headlines, but the thriller's lead character, Crystal (Betty Gilpin) should not be ignored. Crystal is described as knowing more about the diabolical game that is unfolding than those who are ostensibly masterminding the evil activity. As we've seen, especially in her recent role in TV's GLOW, Gilpin has the right stuff to be a big star, so we're excited to see what she brings to the big screen in a combustible film.

Emily Blunt is a force of nature, as she demonstrated in A Quiet Place, so we're quite interested in seeing how she will add further layers to her character. Obviously, Evelyn Abbott (Blunt) is a survivor, but she's now the unquestioned leader of her family and must guide them through a thicket of troubles in the outside world, including a male-dominated group that may be more deadly than the creatures that hunt by sound.

From all appearances, this tale of young people learning about their superpowered abilities revolves around an ensemble cast. Even so, we're most intrigued by the prominent presence of Anya Taylor-Joy (Emma), Maisie Williams (TV's Game of Thrones) and Alice Braga (TV's Queen of the South); they're all exceptional actresses who have shown in the past their ability to portray strong, memorable characters. What will they bring to the table in this dark thriller? We can only wait with anticipation.
