Red Queen: Elizabeth Banks is in negotiations to direct Red Queen, an adaptation of the first in a planned series of fantasy novels aimed at the young-adult market. Victoria Aveyard's book details a world ruled by an elite class with silver blood; the lower class, red-blooded heroine is discovered to have a secret power that threatens to tear the world apart. Soul Catcher: Veteran filmmaker John Sayles (Honeydripper, above left) will adapt Soul Catcher for the big screen. Based on a novel by Frank Herbert (Dune), the psychological thriller centers around a Native-American activist and the politician's son he has kidnapped with the vengeful intention of sacrificing him. Chris Eyre (appearing in the documentary Reel Injun, above right) is set to direct. [Deadline]
