Justice League Dark

Justice League: Dark: Guillermo del Toro has submitted his script for Dark Universe, based on the DC Comics series Justice League: Dark, to Warner Bros. Now it's up to the studio to decide whether to move forward on the project, which follows a team of superheroes, including John Constantine and Swamp Thing, that deals with supernatural and occult happenings. Blade Runner

Blade Runner 2: Ridley Scott says that a sequel to Blade Runner, his landmark 1982 science fiction film, should start production within the next year, but don't expect him to be directing. Still, he developed the storyline with Hampton Fancher, who cowrote the original, and will serve as a producer. He also indicated that Harrison Ford will return as Rick Deckard, though it will be a supporting role. [Variety]

 

Casablanca

Casablanca: The piano played by Dooley Wilson in the 1942 classic Casablanca has sold at auction for $3.4 million. It's actually "a miniature instrument, and golden yellow in color," which looks completely different in person than in the black-and-white movie. But it is the same piano that figured prominently in scenes with both Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. [Time]

Cake Trailer: Jennifer Aniston stars in Cake as a woman suffering from chronic pain who becomes fascinated by a woman in her support group. The first trailer paints a very engaging character portrait; the cast includes Anna Kendrick, Sam Worthington, Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy. The movie will open in theaters in January.
