The Lost City of Z: Charlie Hunnam (above in Pacific Rim), who was cast in the lead role for Fifty Shades of Grey before dropping out, now finds himself in the opposite situation: he's replacing Benedict Cumberbatch in a lead role in The Lost City of Z. Stargate: The proposed remake of 1994's Stargate is moving forward. Nicolas Wright and James A. Woods are in final negotiations to write a new screenplay; they previously worked with director Roland Emmerich on the upcoming sequel Independence Day 2. Point Break: The remake of 1991's Point Break (above) has been moved from July 31 to December 25 on the release calendar. Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey star in the crime thriller. While the original showcased surfing action, the remake reportedly features more extreme sports, so perhaps it's more appropriate for the Christmas season. [Deadline]
Lost River Trailer: Ryan Gosling makes his directorial debut with Lost River, which premiered at Cannes to mixed reviews -- this first trailer gives us a taste of its bizarre world. Christina Hendricks stars as a single mother raising two boys in an urban wasteland where bullies run the show and some sort of curse has taken over.
