Oh, you didn't think Breaking Dawn would mark the end of the Twilight Saga, right? You didn't really think that it would all end, we'd go about our lives and we'd never look back…right? Yes – breaking news – The Twilight Saga will not officially end with Breaking Dawn; instead, Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has announced on her website that she will release a novella this summer called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, based on the character from Eclipse.
The novella was originally supposed to be part of The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide (which is another book that's on its way), but when Meyer realized that the short story had turned into 200 pages, she thought it'd be best to let it go on its own as a sort of spin-off. Bree, who'll be played by Tideland star Jodelle Ferland in the movie version of Eclipse, is part of Victoria's newborn vampire army, and factors in to the book Eclipse (though we don't know how big her role will be in the film). Since Bree will show up in the film, chances are we won't see a movie spin-off unless the character is ridiculously popular.
Good news for those who spent all their allowance buying up the first four books is that Meyer will release Bree Tanner online for free for you to read from June 7th till July 5th. The book will also be made available in stores, where one dollar for each purchased book will go toward the American Red Cross for relief efforts in Haiti and Chile. So, yeah, reading it online is free…but buying it helps the folks in Haiti. Sure, guilt us into spending money Stephenie! (I kid, of course.)
