Last night marked an extremely important date in Twilight Saga history because the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon debuted during the MTV Movie Awards (now available for HD viewing here). The second installment in this four-part vampire franchise picks up when Edward (Robert Pattinson) ditches Bella (Kristen Stewart) because he's concerned for her safety – and in Edward's absence, Bella begins to grow closer to Jacob (Taylor Lautner), a werewolf and enemy of Edward's vampire clan.
Thus begins an intense love triangle that, based on the new trailer, will shake things up and give the tween girls of the world a new favorite movie, like, ever. There's not a whole lot to go on here; the trailer basically sets up Edward's exit and gives us a nice look at Taylor Lautner's six-pack abs (before he leaps and transforms into a wolf), but I'm sure it's enough to whet your Twilight appetite.
So tell us what you think: Is this trailer what you expected from New Moon? Does it look like director Chris Weitz will do a better job than Catherine Hardwicke? What about some of the changes from the book – does it hurt the film or help it?
The Twilight Saga: New Moon hits theaters on November 20.
