Though it's not due to drop in theaters until next Memorial Day weekend, folks around these parts are still very excited to see what Disney has up their sleeves with regards to the Prince of Persia video game adaptation, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Speaking as someone who visited the London set back in 2008, I can certainly vouch for the film’s potential awesomeness – complete with gorgeous cinematography (wait till you see the images from their filming in Morocco) and plenty of action-packed sword-and-sandal-type coolness.

Good news for you fans itching to catch a better glimpse of the film, a new interview with Jerry Bruckheimer (for an ABC movie special) has popped up on YouTube – and in it we get a look at some of the first footage from the movie alongside Bruckheimer’s brief description of the plot and his thoughts on just how tough it was to shoot in a blazing Morocco during the summer season where temperatures reached well over 100 degrees.

And yes, we also get a nice look at Jake Gyllenhaal (and his ridiculous muscles) in the clip, as well as some of the film’s fantastic swordplay. Check out the clip over here and let us know what you think. Could Prince of Persia turn into the next great Disney franchise? Or will it disappoint like so many other video game adaptations in the past. Guess we’ll have to wait till May 28, 2010 in order to answer that question…
