Chocolate chip-colored eyes, a grin that show all of his teeth, a general nerd love for Star Wars -- all that and more makes up the combined awesome that is my seven-year-old son. So I thought I’d ask him what he thought about The Lego Movie.

These are his words. The laughter is collective.

So what was the movie about?

It was about a bunch of good Lego characters coming together to save the universe.

Anything else?

It was also about being creative, like I am every day. And everyone can be creative if they want to, no matter what anyone tells you. Everyone can be special like Emmet.

So who did you like best from the characters?

All of them.

Can you narrow it down to a few favorites?

Emmet. Of course. And then WyldStyle, Bad Cop/Good Cop, Lord Business and Uni-Kitty.

Why them?

Well, WyldStyle was really interesting and beautiful and smart and honest. Emmet was funny and amazing once he believed in himself. Uni Kitty was HI-LAR-IOUS because she was so crazy cute; and Lord Business was just funny because he was so bad.

So you liked him because he was bad?

No. I liked him because he was doing what he thought was right. Then he changed and became good.

Lord Business reminds me of your dad.

[Laughs] Yep! Because dad’s grouchy. He’s going to be mad we’re laughing you know.

[Grins]

Would you tell your friends to go see the movie?

Yeah! I give it five million thumbs up.

You only have two thumbs.

I know. But I wish I had more of them so I could give it five million creamy thumbs up.

Creamy? Dude. That’s gross.

Well, that’s how much I liked it. And there should totally be a sequel called Attack of the Duplo. We should tell the filmmakers to get on that.
