Powell: Morgan Freeman (Going in Style, above) will portray Colin Powell in a new biographical portrait of the former military leader. Ed Whitworth wrote the screenplay, which takes place during the years that Powell served as U.S. Secretary of State under President George W. Bush. Reginald Hudlin (Marshall) will direct. [THR]
Meg: We've been hearing about giant-shark thriller Meg since 2015; it's based on the first in a series of novels by Steve Alten about a deep sea diver who discovers the modern-day existence of a Megalodon, a prehistoric, predatory sea creature. Now comes word that the movie has been retitled The Meg. Jason Statham (above in The Fate of the Furious), Li Bingbing, Cliff Curtis, Rainn Wilson and Ruby Rose star; it will open in theaters on August 10, 2018. [Bloody Disgusting]
I Love You Daddy Trailer: Louis C.K. stars in and directs I Love You Daddy. He plays a television writer whose young daughter (Chloe Grace Moretz) attracts the attention of a far older filmmaker (John Malkovich). Rose Byrne, Pamela Adlon and Charlie Day also star.
