Who says you have to wait 20 or so years before you remake a movie. Lionsgate certainly doesn't think so as the company sets out to remake the 2000 Christian Bale thriller American Psycho.

Noble Jones, whose only film credit is a stint as Second Unit Director on The Social Network, will write the script as well as direct. Jones has also directed commercials and music videos and as Variety, who broke the story, is "a protégé of David Fincher."

The project is currently in, "the early stages of development," at the studio.

The original version, adapted from Bret Easton Elli's 1991 novel starred Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, a wealthy investment banker by day who transforms into a homicidal maniac by night. The Lionsgate reimagining will go back to the original novel, though no word if that means it will be a more, pardon the pun, by the book adaptation.

So what are your thoughts on American Psycho being remade? Who would you cast as Bateman?
