Now that you've watched The Lego Movie enough times that you've found yourself singing "Everything Is Awesome" in the shower on many occasions, it's time to start turning your attention to what's next -- and in the case of the Lego Movie franchise, we're looking at at least four upcoming movies: Lego Ninjago (9/23/16), The Lego Batman Movie (5/26/17), The Lego Movie 2 (5/25/18) and an Untitled Lego Movie (5/24/19).

Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller won't be writing and directing all of the follow-ups, but they are heavily involved in the planning of them and have been tasked with writing at least the Lego Movie sequel, which they recently spoke about with Empire, revealing the film will take place four years later.

"Well I don’t want to give you spoilers but we were really interested in what happens to that boy who’s in the meta story in the first movie when he’s four years older," Miller says. "When he’s an adolescent how does that change his point of view? And it’s nice to have the characters start in a different place from the first movie. Emmet, for example, was in an existential crisis of having seen another dimension and was questioning the whole point of his existence.”

We love the fact that Lord and Miller look to be using the first movie's most memorable surprise -- the fact that its entire story is based on the relationship struggles one son is having with his father -- and spinning off from there, kind of in the way the Toy Story franchise always took into consideration what happens to toys as their owners begin to grow up.

Lord and Miller stress that even though there are a lot more Lego movies on the way, all of them will have their own vibe and won't just be carbon copies of one another.

"Each of them have their own distinct voices and ideas for tone," Miller added. "So it will each have its own personality and not just be, ‘Hey, remember that last movie? Here’s another one just like it!’"

Which Lego movie are you most excited for?

Oh, and because it's been awhile since this was stuck in your head...
