It's been a long road filled with a lot of young actors names being thrown into the rumor mill, but this morning, EW reports that the YA adaptation has officially locked in their male lead.
Theo James, who most movie fans will know either from his portrayal of Selene's ally David in Underworld Awakening or his current role on the CBS crime drama Golden Boy where he plays the lead homicide detective, will play the male lead, Four.
James will co-star opposite female lead Shailene Woodley, who just recently wrapped up her brief stint on The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Woodley will portray Tris.
Kate Winslet, who had been rumored for the role was reportedly confirmed by THR reporter Borys Kit via Twitter. According to Kit, Winslet will play Erudite leader, Jeanine.
Divergent looks to be the next big YA adaptation to hit the big screen. The story is set in a dystopic future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities.
The film is being directed by Neil Burger (Limitless, The Illusionist) and slated for release on March 21, 2014.
Zoe Kravitz (as Christina), Ansel Elgort (as Caleb) and Maggie Q co-star. Other actors currently circling roles include Aaron Eckhart, Miles Teller and Ray Stevenson. The role of Uriah remains open, though Romeo, Boo Boo Stewart and David Bastian have each auditioned for the role.
What do you think of the casting news? Does James fit the role of Four? Who would you cast as Uriah?
