Will Johnny Depp reprise Hunter S. Thompson (well, one of his alter egos, anyway) as his next project? The site The Bad and the Ugly happened to run across a casting notice for The Rum Diary, Thompson's loosely autobiographical story about a hard-drinking journalist named Paul Kemp that's schedule to film in March that implies Depp is already a part of the film. He's been long-talked-about for the role, but the notice definitely indicates he's on board, which would make it his very next film. Rumor has it that Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley (god - realllly?) are favored to fill the role of Chenault, Kemp's super-hot sex-on-wheels love interest. Inasmuch as I like Depp, especially as the troubled writer (Fear and Loathing is still one of my all-time favorite films), isn't he a little old to play a 22-year-old? And haven't we had enough of him and Keira for a few years? Meh - I dunno.
