Walt Disney certainly plans to have a dominant presence during Sunday’s telecast of the Super Bowl. As we reported earlier, the studio will offer a long look at Sam Raimi’s Oz The Great and Powerful, which stars James Franco as a Kansas magician whisked away to the Emerald City. Now the studio’s tipping its hand at its next Super Bowl sneak peek.
Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger, which stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp as the title character and Tonto, respectively, will have a 90-second TV spot during the pregame show leading into the Super Bowl. Yahoo Movies shared a teaser to the trailer (because that’s what we do nowadays), and we have it here for you below:
Verbinski helmed three Pirates of the Caribbean movies with Depp, then followed them with the animated Rango. The Lone Ranger marks his return to live action, and looks like it adheres to the Pirates blueprint … which should be a lot of fun.
The movie opens on July 3. In addition to the trailer, Disney shared the following poster, which is minimal and barebones, but also pretty cool. Check it out!
