Jimmy Fallon: "I'm Not Going to Do the Oscars."
Back when it was rumored that late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon was the frontrunner for next year’s Academy Awards, we put it to a vote. Overwhelmingly, Fandango’s readers were in favor of the hire, with 76.19% of the people participating in our poll saying “Yes” to Fallon in the coveted Oscar-hosting slot.
Well, Fallon disagrees. And so, for reasons he failed to elaborate on, the television personality has passed on the opportunity to host the Oscars.
Fallon confirmed the news on the Today show during an interview with Matt Lauer from the sight of the Olympic Games in London.
“I was honored to be asked by the Academy, but it’s not my year,” Fallon said to Lauer.
Then who’s year is it? Those who voted “No” in our poll made suggestions in the comments section. The Muppets – once a consideration during last year’s preparations – were floated. So was Emma Stone, who has been a standout while presenting at various awards shows (including the Oscars).
There’s still time for the Academy to decide. But now that Fallon’s officially out, tell us who you’d like to see hosting the 85th Academy Awards in early 2013.
