He’s much more funny and lovable as Po the Panda than a spoof character, in my opinion, but Jack Black and Kung Fu Panda writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger are reteaming to create an action comedy parodying the Bourne movies at Universal, the Hollywood Reporter reveals. In the untitled project, Black stars as an American who washes up on the shores of Cuba with amnesia. He mistakenly comes to the conclusion he’s a superspy. No release date yet.

Jack Black
Lookin' mighty feisty there, Jack.

Hmmm. I’m eyeing this one curiously. Black’s recent action-oriented comedies (Tropic Thunder, Nacho Libre) haven’t sent me into the paroxysms of laughter that I remember while watching, say School of Rock. But if they can somehow convince Matt Damon to show up for a cameo, I’m down.

Whaddya say? Think Black’s comedic Bourne Identity will entertain the masses?
