In this week's Indie Movie Guide, Alicia Malone tells why the small movie-ness of director Jeff Nichols' Loving (in select theaters November 4, opens wide November 23) pays off in such a big way. The movie tells the true story of what happened when the real-life Lovings, Richard and Mildred, were prosecuted for being an interracial married couple in 1958 Virginia and took their case all the way to the Supreme Court. Also in this episode, Alicia looks at a couple of very different documentaries: The Eagle Huntress (in select theaters November 2), about a 13-year-old Mongolian girl's dreams to become the first eagle hunter in her family in many generations; and Tickled, a look at a taboo subject -- the fringe-fetish world of professional tickling. The movie came out last June and will be available on FandangoNOW.
