This is shaping up to be the season of the important biopic. The Fifth Estate, arriving in theaters today, tackles the enigmatic WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch). Tom Hanks took to the seas to tell the contemporary story of Captain Phillips. And momentarily, the great Idris Elba will step into the massive shoes of Nelson Mandela for the dramatic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, which just released its second, longer theatrical trailer:

Director Justin Chadwick premiered his Mandela biopic at the Toronto International Film Festival, where critics described it as sprawling and effective, with ample praise reserved for Elba. The script takes its cues from Mandela’s own autobiography, and turns the reins over to an amazing actor, meaning there should be plenty of opportunities for the Academy to honor the film and its accomplishments.

So far, Mandela has had some beautifully, artistic one sheets promoting the film for audiences.
