As Hurricane Sandy bears down on the East Coast -- affecting major East Coast cities as Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York and Boston – Hollywood has been making adjustments to help ensure the safety of residents in those areas.
As reported in the L.A. Times, Focus Features already has postponed Tuesday night’s planned premiere of Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina, an event that was expected to bring film stars Keira Knightley and Jude Law to NYC for a red-carpet gala.
In addition, AMC Theaters announced in its website that multiplexes in all of the major cities in Sandy’s path will be closed “with the hope of reopening no later than 4 p.m. Tuesday, circumstances permitting.”
Several theaters in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Boston were part of a growing list on AMC’s site. (See the list of closed multiplexes here.) It’s advised that East Coast residents stay in their homes as weather conditions intensify and flooding risks increase until Sandy has passed the affected areas.
