The president defends a divided nation against a common enemy: bloodsucking creatures of the night. What, you thought "leader of the free world" meant something else? For horror fans, this movie is the equivalent of the scene in Independence Day when the president straps himself into a fighter jet to fight the aliens. The only difference here is the president's weapon of choice: an axe!

 

Escape from New York (1981)

The president crash-lands in Manhattan, which has been converted into a maximum-security prison. He needs help to survive, which arrives in the person of the very mean and very tough Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell). But the president (Donald Pleasence) eventually demonstrates his own mean streak, too.
