Have you ever been watching a movie and notice something strange – like the color of a character’s shirt changes instantly, or a scene that was supposed to be at night looks like it was shot during the day? Fear not, you’re not going nutso (unless the characters start talking back to you -- then I’d maybe seek some help); instead, what you probably witnessed was just one of many movie mistakes that take place in practically every film that hits theaters.
Thankfully, for those who like to know who’s making the mistakes and how many are made, there’s a site called Movie Mistakes that collects a running tally of all the mistakes in every movie that comes out. So far this year Iron Man 2 is surprisingly leading the pack with a whopping 45 mistakes. Following closely behind is Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island with 34 (a number that sort of baffles me since it’s a veteran like Scorsese and he had a lot of extra time to work on the film). Rounding out the top five in 2010 are The A-Team (31), Kick-Ass (15) and Alice in Wonderland (12).
All the way at the bottom of the pack – with only one innocent mistake – is the direct-to-DVD Wild Things: Foursome. Their one mistake? “First when Cason kisses Rachel she’s on his left side. When the kiss is over she’s suddenly on his right side.” They should be ashamed!
Seriously, though, take a look at Iron Man 2’s 45 mistakes (some of which are pretty glaring, and almost all have to do with continuity), and let us know if you spotted any.
