Transformers: Age of Extinction

Ari Aster, the first-time writer/director of Hereditary, is setting up his sophomore effort. Reportedly, the currently untitled feature will again be distributed by A24 (Hereditary has become their top-grossing release).

According to Collider, the movie has just cast its leads with Jack Reynor (Macbeth) and Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth) and is now filming in Budapest. The Maze Runner's Will Poulter, who also recently co-starred with Reynor in Detroit, will play another main character.

When Aster spoke to Fandango's Erik Davis earlier this year, he called the movie Midsommar, which made it sound like a properly Ingmar Bergman-inspired, Swedish-set production. "The next film I'm making is a horror film, and I'm making it with A24," he said at the time. "It's a dark break-up movie that becomes a horror film, set in Sweden. That's all I can really say now. It's called Midsommar. Everybody's been spelling it wrong. It's midsummer in Swedish."

Here's everything we know about the movie so far:

What's the movie about?

Another horror movie, Aster's next feature follows a couple and their friend to the friend's Swedish countryside hometown for a mid-summer festival. The trip goes downhill, however, when they encounter a pagan cult and violence ensues.

Who is in the movie?

Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Florence Pugh (The Commuter) play the couple, while Will Poulter (We're the Millers) presumably plays the friend. The cast also includes Vilhem Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia and Archie Madekwe.

When does the movie come out?

A24 has yet to schedule the movie's release date.
