Everything about the first trailer for The Hangover Part III speaks to closure. It opens at a funeral (and if you’ve kept up with Internet rumors, you already know which character is in that casket). It promises the conclusion of the trilogy. Needless to say, if this comedy breaks the bank, we can expect further adventures with the Wolf Pack. But for now, this might be it, and they are going out with a bang.

Here’s the new trailer, shared by Warner Bros. Pictures:

For reasons we don’t know yet, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis return to the original scene of the crime, Las Vegas, to “burn this place to the ground.” They encounter all kinds of problems, giving familiar faces like Heather Graham and Ken Jeong to pop back into the picture. Also, there are criminals wearing pig masks. Because … sure.

Though The Hangover Part II earned serious bank, fans complained that it followed too closely to the template of the first movie. This one appears to kick out the jams, telling its own story without having to adhere to the “what happened the night before” formula.

In addition to the new trailer, WB released a Hangover poster that plays on the designs of the final Harry Potter sequel. Clever stuff.

Todd Phillips once again directs. The Hangover Part III will be in theaters on May 24. What do you think of the trailer?
