The trailer for Gone Girl has us asking two things. First, who killed Ben Affleck's wife? Second, how great is it that thrillers are coming back?
Last year Prisoners impressed audiences with not only stellar performances from Hugh Jackman and Jake Gylenhaal, but also a big, old-school thriller vibe. Now another heavy-hitting director is breathing life back into the who-done-it side of thrillers: David Fincher (Se7en, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Zodiac). And since he's not exactly a stranger when it comes to grand murder mysteries, it's safe to say we're a little excited.
Gone Girl is about a man (Ben Affleck) who is accused of murdering his wife (Rosamund Pike) on their fifth wedding anniversary. It's based on the book by Gillian Flynn, so if you've read it, don't spoil it for us. Then again, you may not be able to considering the author has apparently written a new ending for the movie.
