It’s a question percolating in the back of every monster-loving fanboy’s mind: Could we eventually see Godzilla (in theaters this Friday) and the world of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim collide? Legendary CEO Thomas Tull tackled that very question in a recent interview with Collider.

The interviewer asks Tull if the two films exist in the same universe – thereby making a crossover a very real possibility. This is Tull’s response:

“They’re completely different worlds.”

That would seemingly put the kibosh on the King of Monsters teaming up with the Kaiju in del Toro’s cinematic universe once and for all – but maybe not. They’re different worlds, sure, but that doesn’t mean there can't be a way to make it happen. If Wolverine can travel through time in X-Men: Days of Future Past, surely we can figure out how to make it so Godzilla can hang with the robots and monsters of Pacific Rim... right? For now, though, we'll have to settle for what will definitely be a cool monster-movie double feature in the near future.
